Data Intern

Vanguard Economics Uganda is offering an internship for a skilled and motivated Data Analyst to join its growing team. The Data Analyst will play a key role in transforming raw data into meaningful insights that support evidence-based decision-making while learning from the wider team at VE. The opportunity will involve collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting data to inform projects, reports, and strategic recommendations for our clients and stakeholders.

1. Collect, clean, and validate large datasets from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
2. Perform descriptive, inferential, and predictive data analysis using statistical methods and tools.
3. Design and implement data collection systems, dashboards, and performance tracking tools.
4. Visualize data through charts, graphs, and dashboards to communicate findings clearly.
5. Work with project teams to translate research questions into measurable indicators and datasets.
6. Support survey design, sampling, and quality assurance during data collection.
7. Produce high-quality reports and presentations to inform project deliverables and client needs.
8. Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in statistical and data analysis software (e.g., Stata, R, Python, SPSS).
• Strong knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
• Familiarity with econometric techniques and impact evaluation is desirable.
